Damghan Dam, to be inaugurated Thursday

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – Damghan reservoir dam, built across Cheshmeh Ali River with the aim of collecting the torrents and saving the surplus waters used for the irrigation of the agricultural lands is located 12 kilometers northwest of Damghan, a northeastern city, noted managing director of the Tehran Regional Water Company, Qasem Taqizadeh Khamesi.

“Currently, lands under pistachio cultivation are about 7,390 hectares however, with the dam coming on stream 1500 hectares of arable lands would be added to the figure”, added the official.”

 

He also noted that about 150 billion rials has been invested in the dam the construction of which took four years, Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported.

 

Energy Minister Habibollah Bitaraf is to inaugurate the dam on Thursday.

 

Referring to the Tehran Regional Water Company’s next year projects he stated that, out of the estimated 400-billion rials credits required for the construction of the Taleghan Dam - projected to be built near Tehran - some 15 billion rials is planned to be allocated therefore, development of the project will be facing some difficulties and its completion would be delayed.
