Jamaran destroyer sets off for Gulf of Aden

TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (MNA) – Iranian navy’s 32nd fleet consisting of two destroyers has set off for Gulf of Aden.

The fleet will have navy’s two destroyers Jamaran, as command headquarters and Bushehr as logistics unit in the mission which embarked on from First Naval Zone in Bandar Abbas and will navigate to Hormuz, Jask, Sea of Oman, Makran coasts, northern Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden, and Bab-el-Mandeb strait.

The mission reportedly will be to provide security for Iran’s trade ships, oil tankers, and other ships sailing under the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other foreign ships in the emergency situation.

The fleet will also deal with any threat by pirates against Iranian ships along the mission.
