PG islands belong to Iran forever: Envoy

TEHRAN, Sep. 28 (MNA) – Iran’s envoy to the UN has slammed UAE repeated claims on the three Persian Gulf islands and reemphasized on their belonging to the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s envoy to the UN condemned United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister remarks in the UN General Assembly on the three islands of the Persian Gulf.

Hossein Dehqani said the UAE claims on the three Iranian islands are obvious indications of interference within the Islamic Republic’s sovereignty.

UAE’s FM Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had delivered a speech in the UN General Assembly and had pointed to the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, and had objected to the Islamic Republic’s flag raised there.

He further had asked the International Court of Justice to solve the problem between the two countries.

Dehqani in a statement said that the three Persian Gulf islands are inseparable parts of the country and added that the UAE’s FM claims are meddling into Iran's internal affairs.

He further said that the Islamic Republic of Iran always does its best for friendly relations with its neighbors and believes that such differences would be solved via dialogue.

The UAE has many times made claims on the Iranian three islands in the Persian Gulf and the Islamic Republic always rejected such claims and emphasized on their historical belonging to the country.
