TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (MNA) – Deputy Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Baqeri has said that resistance can bring peace and stability to the region.

“Only the discourse of resistance can bring peace and stability to the region,” Baqeri said in a meeting with Ahmed Jibril, head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command in Damascus on Sunday.

“Resistance is a determining factor in the regional equations,” he said.

Jibril thanked Iran for its support to resistance in Lebanon and Palestine.

He also expressed satisfaction with the achievements Iran made during its recent talks with the major powers in Geneva.

The Iranian official also met with Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad Movement Ramadan Abdullah Shalah on late Sunday.

During the meeting, the two officials exchanged views on the latest developments in the region and Palestine.

Baqeri started his two-day visit to Damascus on Sunday to exchange views with a number of Syrian officials and leaders of the Palestinian resistance groups on ways to expand strategic ties.

Baqeri is also scheduled to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem and Hamas political chief Khaled Meshaal.
