“To Whom Can I Say Hello?” contains 10 short stories. Daneshvar’s most successful novel Savushun (The Mourners) has been translated into several languages.
Her Persian translation of Nathaniel Hawthornes “Scarlet Letter” into Persian has been republished five times. “Savushun” is also being republished for the 15th time by Kharazmi Publications in Iran.
Daneshvar was born in 1921 in Shiraz and studied Persian literature at the University of Tehran. She married the well-known Iranian novelist and short story writer Jalal Al-e Ahmad.
She has also translated some of the works of Shaw, Chekhov, Hawthorn and Albe Schnitzler.
