TEHRAN, June 30 (MNA) -- Renowned Iranian musician Dariush Safvat and French music scholar Jean During will give a joint research concert on July 19 in Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

They will discuss Iranian traditional music and Safvat will play some improvised pieces by setar.

 

During is the author many books on Iranian music including “The Spirit of Sounds: The Unique Art of Ostad Elahi” and “The Art of Persian Music”.

 

 

Iran’s “Adam” to go on screen at Indian festival

 

TEHRAN -- “Adam” by Iranian director Abdorreza Kahani will be screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) which will be held in Trivandrum, India from August 1 to 7.

 

It tells the story of a village where no one has died for 20 years and women give birth 3-4 times a week. Everything begins to change, when the arrival of a mysterious woman coincides with the first death.

 

 

Babak Amini’s “Angels” wins award in Italian filmfest

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian filmmaker Babak Amini’s “Angels Die in the Soil” won the Ischia Film Award at the 6th edition of Ischia Film Location Festival in Italy.

 

The film was screened at the Denied Location Section of the festival which was held from June 23 to 29.

 

 

Pop music to echo in Niavaran Palace

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian pop singer Hooman Javid will give concerts from July 1 to 3 at the Niavaran Palace.

 

This is Javid’s debut concert over his 10-year career. He will sing pieces from his album “One’s Own Shadow” and “The Secret of Night”.
