TEHRAN, Sep. 17 (MNA) – The US State Department said on Monday it approved a possible foreign military sale to Taiwan of spare parts valued at about $228 million.

The return, repair, and reshipment of spare parts will be transferred from US Government stock, the State Department said in a statement.

The United States is Taiwan's most important supporter and arms supplier.

Beijing considers Taiwan a breakaway province and claims sovereignty over the strait that lies between the island and mainland China.
