TEHRAN, Apr. 27 (MNA) – Iran has cruised into the final of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand 2024 after beating Uzbekistan 5-4 in a penalty shootout on Friday.

Iran goalkeeper Bagher Mohammadi was the game's star against Uzbekistan after the match ended 3-3 in extra-time in the semi-final.

The Iranian team headed by former legend player Vahid Shamsaei has powerfully advanced to the semi-final of the 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup with a decisive victory over Kyrgyzstan 6-1.

The Iranian side has also secured a berth in the 2024 World Cup which is slated to be held in Uzbekistan.

Iran began the tournament held in Thailand with a 3-1 win against debutant Afghanistan, which was followed by a 5-3 victory over Bahrain before sealing the top spot in Group D after its 4-0 decisive victory against Kuwait.

Iran will now face Thailand in the final, who defeated Tajikistan 6-5 on penalties.

Thailand is currently seeking a record-extending 13th AFC Futsal Asian Cup title.
