TEHRAN, Feb. 03 (MNA) – President Ebrahim Raeisi called the head coach of the Iranian national men's football team to thank the team for making people happy after the team's victory against Japan in the Asian Cup quarterfinal.

President Ebrahim Raeisi made a phone call to Amir Ghalenoei, the national football head coach on Saturday afternoon to express thanks to God for the success of the national football team and appreciated the efforts and endeavors made by him and all the players and personnel of the national team for the victory and expressed hope that the success of the national football team of the Islamic Republic of Iran in these competitions will continue until the championship.

In the telephone conversation, Ghalenoei expressed gratitude for the support of the government and the president to the national team and stated that every member of the national team has worked hard for these victories and successes, and demanded the continuation and increase of support for the national football team. 

In this telephone conversation, Mehdi Taremi, the forward of the national football team, who did not play in the match against Japan, expressed hope that the national team players can continue to make the Iranian people happy with their continued successes and victories.

Iran knocked four-times champions Japan out of the Asian Cup with a 2-1 victory in their quarter-final on Saturday.
