TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (MNA) –The World Steel Association (WSA) in its latest report said Iran’s annual crude steel production volume has surpassed 31 million tons.

According to the report, Iranian steelmakers produced 2.9 million tons of crude steel in December 2023.

The association put the unfinished steel volume produced by steelmaking companies in the world in December 2023 at 135.7 million tons, registering a 5.3 percent decline compared to the same period a year earlier.

Iran’s steel production volume reached 31.1 million tons during the 12 months ending December 2023, so Iran still is among the world’s top 10 steelmakers, IRNA reported.

Iran accounted for 59 percent share of the crude steel produced in the Middle East last year.

Countries including Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the major steel producers in the Middle East region.
