The implementation of the plan to build a 4,000-megawatt renewable energy power plant as the largest plan for the construction of renewable wind and solar power plants in West Asia began on Monday in the presence of President Ebrahim Raeisi and Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and is expected to be put into operation before next summer when the electricity consumption rate reaches its peak.
After the implementation of the plan, the power generation capacity from renewable sources, which was about 870 MW at the beginning of President Raeisi's government and is currently about 1,119 MW, will increase to more than 5,119 MW.
Currently, there are 381 renewable energy power plants with a capacity of about 11,000 megawatts. The regional power companies of Tehran provinces with 32%, Fars with 10% and Sistan and Baluchistan with 9% are the provinces that are te top of the list of the construction of planned 4,000 MW solar power plants in the country.
