TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (MNA) – Iranians and Shia Muslims throughout the world mark the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA), the noble daughter of the Holy Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (S).

Hazrat Zahra (SA), also known as Fatemeh, is the daughter of Islam’s Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the wife of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia imam.

She is also the mother of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Hossein (AS), the second and third Shia imams, respectively.

Based on the popular opinion amongst the Shia, she was born in the 5th year after bi'tha (the beginning of the prophetic mission), wikishia reported.

She had numerous social activities and political stances. The migration to Medina, the treatment of the Prophet at the Battle of Uhud, bringing supplies to the Prophet at the Battle of Khandaq, and accompanying him during the Conquest of Mecca were just some of her activities before the demise of the Prophet, the source added.

The martyrdom of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (a) is one of the common and lasting beliefs among Shi'as, according to which Lady Fatima (a), the daughter of the Prophet of Islam (s), did not die a natural death but was rather martyred due to injuries inflicted to her.

To show Her status, the Holy Prophet said, "Whoever injures (bodily or sentimentally) Fatima, injures me; and whoever injures me injures Allah; and whoever injures Allah practices unbelief. O, Fatima! If your wrath is incurred, it incurs the wrath of Allah; and if you are happy, it makes Allah happy too."

The Holy Prophet said, "Fatima is a peace of my heart".

After several incidents that led to the martyrdom of Fatima al-Zahra (as), including the attack on her house, the abortion of her child, and slapping and flogging her, she passed away at the age of 18.

There are several narrations about the date of the martyrdom of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (PBUH) according to a narration, it is 75 days after the death of the Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (S) on the 13th of Jamadi Al-Awali (which is also the opinion of the Sunnis) and according to a more famous narration, her martyrdom is 95 days later the death of the Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (S) per the third of Jamadi al-Thani in the eleventh year of AH.

She was buried in between the Prophet's pulpit and his house since the Prophet (S) had said that it is one of the gardens of paradise. She was buried in Baqi' Cemetery.

Every year, on the occasion of Hazrat Fatima's martyrdom anniversary, Shia Muslims install black flags on the shrines of Shia Imams and do charities in a bid to mourn for the Lady and show their love and respect to the noble daughter of the Holy Prophet of Islam.
