TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) – Commander of Iran’s border guard police Ahmad Ali Goudarzi has said that some 1.4 tons of narcotics were confiscated from smugglers in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The commander said that the seizure of narcotics happens as the country intensifies its campaign against drug trafficking.

He also noted that the confiscated cargo included 1.1 tons of opium and 300kg of hashish.

One smuggler was also arrested in the police operation, the official said.

Iran is at the forefront of the fight against drug trafficking and thousands of Iranian forces have been so far martyred to protect the world from the danger of drugs.

Despite high economic and human costs, the Islamic Republic has been actively fighting drug trafficking over the past decades.
