TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – Iran's Greco-Roman wrestlers finished the 2023 Belgrade World Championships as the runner-up after the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Clinching one gold medal, one silver, and two bronzes, and accumulating a total of 87 points, the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team stood in second place in the world.

Amin Mirzadeh won a gold medal in the 130 kg heavyweight division, Alireza Mohammadi won a silver medal in the weight of 82 kg division, Pooya Dadmarz won a 55 kg weight category, Mohammad Reza Geraei won a 67 kg weight, and Mohammad Hadi Saravi won a bronze medal in 97 kg weight.

Despite the lead of Azerbaijani wrestlers in first place with 17 points, the Iranian wrestlers have almost no chance of winning the championship title considering the performance of Greco-Roman wrestlers in the lower-weight categories.
