TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Iran national basketball team captain Hamed Haddadi has retired after participation in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Just before the prestigious event, the center underwent successful foot surgery after he was diagnosed with an Achilles tendon rupture.

Iran basketball team lost to Lebanon 81-73 in their last match in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Saturday.

The 37-year-old basketball player scored 14 points at the match to become the most influential player in the Iranian squad.

The match against Lebanon was considered as the last game in which the Iranian basketball star played.
