TEHRAN, July 30 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki strongly condemned an Israeli attack on Qana in southern Lebanon on Sunday that killed at least 40 civilians, including 23 children in the bloodiest single attack in 19 days of fighting.

“The Zionist regime once again revealed its inhumane and terrorist face by killing innocent children and women,” Mottaki said in a statement.

Lebanon said 750 people have been killed since the fighting started.

“Undoubtedly, the United States and the Zionist regime are responsible for such a brutal terrorist catastrophe,” the minister added.

He also urged the international community especially the UN Security Council to responsibly address the atrocity, bring an immediate end to the Israeli assaults in Lebanon and Palestine, and bring the Israeli criminals to justice over crimes against humanity.

The United States is facing increasing criticism across the world for refusing to call for an immediate cease-fire and for giving Israel the green light to press ahead with its attacks on Lebanon.
