TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – Japan's new Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is set to dissolve the House of Representatives on Thursday afternoon ahead of a general election at the end of this month.

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida dissolved the House of Representatives on Thursday, paving the road for a general election at the end of the month, Kyodo news agency reported.

The move came just two weeks after Kishida was elected leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and a week after he was elected prime minister in a parliament controlled by the LDP-led coalition. 

The general election will be held on October 31.
