TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (MNA) – Iraqi President Barham Salih announced his readinesd to resign on Thursday to open up for public choice after protests over unemployment and low-quality public services.

Salih said in a statement that because the constitution does not give him the right to reject nominees for the premiership, he was ready to submit his resignation to parliament.

Iraqi media reported that US pressure on Salih has made him resign but the Iraqi Parliament may not accept his resignation to avert further challenges in the country.
