“All the five construction phases of the Tehran-Shomal Freeway should be completed within a five-year period”, noted Ali Akbar Aqaii, chairman of the Development Commission of Majlis in a seminar held at the Majlis Committee on Roads and Transportation.
The MP added that, “In the meeting, Minister of Roads and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati was briefed on the latest developments in building the freeway and reviewed the obstacles on the way of the project implementation.”
The lawmaker also referred to the financial aspects of the huge project that when completed would significantly shorten the distance from the capital Tehran to the Caspian Sea littoral cities. He maintained that, the problems on the way of issuance of finance guarantees for the project have now been resolved and the government has undertaken to pay 50 percent of the total costs of the plan while the rest would be paid by the Mostazafan Foundation (MF).
The timetables and planning for the development of phases 1 and 4 of the project are clear and applicable and Development Committee of the Majlis has ordered the Ministry of Roads and Transportation to present a similar scheduling for the phases 2 and 3 of the project, the legislator further explained.
