TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (MNA) – A car packed with explosives blew up outside Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works on Monday, with gunfire then breaking out, the interior ministry said.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman at the interior ministry, said several gunmen took up positions in a nearby building after the blast and they were exchanging fire with the Afghan security forces, Reuters reported.

Basir Mujahid, a spokesman for Kabul Police Commandment confirmed the incident and said security forces have cordoned off the area.

There are no reports regarding the casualties, yet.
