TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (MNA) – Former Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base Brig. Gen. Ebadollah Abdollahi hailed the construction of Persian Gulf Star Refinery, as the world’s largest gas condensate refinery, under US sanctions.

Brig. Gen. Ebadollah Abdollahi said the construction of the world’s largest gas condensate refinery by Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, especially under sanctions, not only thwarted the malicious plots of enemies and their hostile policies against Iran, but it will also entail development and prosperity of the country in various fields.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the students of Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) on the occasion of Students’ Day.

Persian Gulf Star Refinery has been constructed according to the largest national and international standards, he added.

PGSR, which is described as the Middle East's largest refinery, is built in three phases. Each phase is designed to produce 12 million liters per day of high-octane gasoline and diesel, as part of efforts to wean Iran away from the fuels' import. The third phase of PGSR, in the city of Bandar Abbas, southern Hormozgan province, started a pilot run in late Oct. in a step toward increasing the country’s gasoline output and self-sufficiency in meeting domestic demand.
