TEHRAN, Dec. 02 (MNA) – Secretary of Association of Iranian Airlines told Mehr News on Sun. that the Foreign Ministry has begun looking into the refueling issue for Iranian planes in Turkey and Lebanon.

Maghsoud Asadi Samani told Mehr News correspondent on Sunday that the refueling issue for Iranian planes in Turkey and Lebanon has not yet been resolved.

He added that Iran Civil Aviation Organization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are currently looking for a solution to the issue.

He said suppliers of aviation fuels in Turkey and Lebanon refuse fuel to Iranian airplanes under the pretext of the US unjust sanctions against Iran and problems with financial transactions with Tehran.

Samani maintained, however, that despite this issue, no flight to these destinations has been canceled.

He further expressed hope that the measures of the Foreign Ministry and the Civil Aviation Organization would resolve the situation in the near future.

Early November, Samani confirmed that a Turkish company had announced that after November 10, it cannot supply fuel to Iranian airlines, adding that the issue was "utterly unexpected" given the 2.5 million Iranian passengers traveling between Iran and Turkey annually during 200 flights a week, and after Turkey's official announcement of non-compliance with the US sanctions.
