TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – Former President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Foroud Askari said that time and cost of imports and exports decreased up by 80 percent.

IRICA has proper status in assessment of international ranking, he said, adding, “in this regard, IRICA has been promoted 45 steps in terms of foreign trade index in international level.”

With the coordination made in this regard, IRICA managed to reduce time and cost of exports and imports as much as 73 and 79 percent respectively, he opined.

He went on to say that giant steps were taken in customs offices of the country in the field of on-time delivery of goods.

According to the World Customs Organization (WCO), Islamic Republic of Iran managed to win the first rank in terms of fighting drug precursor materials in Asia and Oceania, Askari maintained.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to using advanced and sophisticated x-ray devices installed in major customs offices of the country and stated, “95 percent of goods imported into the country are monitored by these devices.”

Former deputy minister of economy said, “effective steps were taken by IRICA despite sanctions imposed on the country and also currency volatilities which was intensified since the beginning of the current year up to the present time.”
