The participating guests from different countries met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution this morning. During the event, Ayatollah Khamenei called for unity among Muslims against enemies. The details of the meeting will be published later.
The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference opened in Tehran on Saturday and will continue through Monday, Nov. 26.
Over 520 scholars, religious thinkers, ministers of Islamic countries, university professors and other scientific and cultural figures from 100 countries are taking part at the international event.
During the first day of the conference, notable figures, including Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Grand Mufti of Syria Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, and Tunisia's former religious affairs minister, Abdeljalil Ben Salem, delivered speeches.
The International Islamic Unity Conference aims at laying the ground for unity and solidarity in the Islamic World and unity among scholars in order to achieve proximity among their scientific and cultural viewpoints. Another objective of the conference is to address the Muslims’ problems, provide appropriate solutions to them, and take a joint stance against them.
The event is held annually by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a bid to promote stronger solidarity among Muslims and provide appropriate solutions for their problems.
