Spokesman for Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Reza Jafarzadeh said “there will be no halt to Iran-Turkey flights because of fuel supply.”
Jafarzadeh added “according to an existing agreement signed between the two Iranian and Turkish civil aviation organizations, as many as 100 flights have been arranged for each side per week, which is still on tract, and the two sides are required to provide the services needed for flights, including fuel supply.”
Also in this regard, Maghsood Asa’di Samani, the secretary of the Association of Iranian Airlines (AIRA) said the that the problem of a Turkish company’s refusal to supply fuel to Iranian planes is being discussed between the Turkish and Iranian civil aviation organizations.
Asa’di Samani confirmed that a Turkish company had announced that after November 10, it cannot supply fuel to Iranian airlines, while saying “this issue was utterly unexpected given the 2.5 million Iranian passengers traveling between Iran and Turkey annually during 200 flights a week, and after Turkey's official announcement of non-compliance with the US sanctions.”
The AIRA spokesman added that the Iranian airlines have reported to the Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) and, in turn, they have too reported the complaint to the Turkish authorities and the issue is being discussed.
He added Iran expects that the Turkish government will remove the obstacle soon, given the fact that the Iranian flights are much to the advantage of the Turkish side.
