TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – Turkey is reportedly among the 8 nations which have received permission from the United States to continue Iran oil imports.

The US has agreed to let eight nations, keep buying Iranian oil after November 4 on which the new round of anti-Iran sanctions take effect, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing a US official.

According to Daily Sabah, Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez said Friday that Ankara has not received a written notification regarding any waiver but it has heard rumors on the issue.

The Turkish currency the lira strengthened by more than 0.8% on Friday afternoon, trading at 5.4516 per dollar, rebounding strongly from the previous day's low of 5.6491.

The lira’s rise, Sabah said, is attributed to the expectations that Turkey will receive a waiver on buying Iranian oil after the United States re-imposes sanctions on Tehran as of November 4.
