TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (MNA) – Iranian Perspolis football team drew in Iran Persian Gulf League almost a week before the first leg of the final match of 2018 AFC Champions League.

In a match on Saturday, the winner of last edition of Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League Perspolis took on Saipa, which currently stands in the sixth place in Iranian league and drew 1-1. With this result, Perspolis has now landed in the third place.

Today’s result did not befit the most popular Iranian football team which has the first leg of 2018 AFC Champions League final ahead in less than a week versus Japan's Kashima Antlers on November 3.

Perspolis will face off Kashima a week later on November 10 in the return match to determine the fate of 2018 AFC Champions League. This is the first time the Iranian giants have reached the final of the Asia’s most prestigious club competition, while its Tehran-based rival Esteghlal, which has ranked 6th in the Iranian league, has won the Asian competitions twice so far.
