TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – According to numerous sources in Asia and Iran, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday and will meet with Iranian FM Zarif.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho who is slated to arrive in Tehran on Tuesday will meet with his Iranian counterpart, Foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the first day of his visit to Tehran.

Consultations and exchange of views on bilateral relations is one of the items in the agenda of the meeting.

Earlier on Friday, State-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) had reported that North Korean diplomatic chief would make an official visit to Iran soon, after participating in ASEAN Regional Forum meeting.

The report came as Tokyo-based news agency Kyodo cited sources with knowledge of the North Korean FM’s itinerary that “Ri is expected to make an official visit to Iran after participating in Saturday's ASEAN Regional Forum meeting of the 10-country regional bloc and other forum members.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was also in Singapore to take part in the 51st ministerial session of ASEAN member states, and to sign the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with the bloc. He wrapped up his visit early Saturday to fly back to Iran.

The North Korean foreign minister has made visits to China, Russia, Azerbaijan republic, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Sweden, this year.

 Ri is thought to have met with a high-level Iranian delegation at a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, Azerbaijan in April, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

A North Korean delegation also attended President Hassan Rouhani's inauguration in August 2017.
