TEHRAN, Aug. 04 (MNA) – A Russian political scientist believes that strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia and the joint need for expansion of ties will rule out any chance Russia accept US bargain on Iran.

“Iran is Russia’s strategic partner in the region and the two countries are having cooperation in diverse areas,” said well-known Russian political scientist Sergey Mikheyev.

The Russian political pundit made the remarks on Saturday in an interview with Iranian state news agency, IRNA.

“Iran and Russia have developed cooperation in the past couple of years in many areas including economy and industry and this trend of relations will still progress forward,” he underlined.

The political commentator highlighted that the wills and broad supports of the heads of the two countries for developing relations have led to diversification of areas of cooperation from traditional arenas to modern spheres like railroad, aerospace, and advanced technologies.

“Considering this level of relations between the two countries, the wills of the leaders of Tehran and Moscow, and the strategic partnership of the two countries in the region, it is impossible to accept bargain on Tehran and Moscow will assuredly avoid such an approach,” Mikheyev articulated.

He also did not rule out the possibility that the Americans may have made such an offer during meetings with Russian officials but assured that Moscow would let it down flat.

The commentator then touched upon Iran-Russia cooperation in the Caspian Sea and attached key importance to the role undertaken by Tehran and Moscow in regards to the sea. “The region’s tranquility and development lays in bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Moscow and contributions from other three littoral states.

“Also in the Middle East, have Iran and Russia made positive contributions and the relative stability in Syria and Syria’s victory over terrorists is owed, to a great extent, to Tehran-Moscow cooperation and their support for Damascus,” he asserted.

“While westerners supported terrorists in Syria labeling them as moderate oppositions and funneled thousands of tons of arms and weapons to Syria, Iran and Russia supported the legitimate government in Syria in the face of the terrorists and these supports are bearing fruit today with a relative establishment of peace in Syria and the return of the refugees to their homeland,” Mikheyev said.

Over the past few months, Syrian forces have made sweeping gains against Takfiri terrorists who have lately increased their acts of violence across the country following a series of defeats on the ground.

Backed by its allies, namely Iran and Russia, the Syrian government has stepped up its gains against foreign-backed Takfiri terrorist groups on several fronts.
