TEHRAN, Jul. 31 (MNA) – President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins highlighted that various grounds exist for expansion of cooperation between Iran the European Union.

He made the remarks in a Monday meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Ireland Javad Kachuian.

Touching upon Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Higgins highlighted his countries' support for multilateralism and international agreements.

Elsewhere, the Irish president emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral ties between the two countries, adding, the two-fold increase of ties during the last year was in favor of both nations.

He appreciated the efforts of the Iranian envoy in past years and sent his warm greetings to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

Kachuian, for his part, referred to the increased level of ties between the two countries in past 4 years, adding that Iranian officials are determined to expand bilateral cooperation.

Kachuian’s mission in Ireland has wrapped up and he is going to be replaced by Masoud Eslami. Eslami has a PhD in International Relations and was the head of Foreign Ministry’s School of International Relations.
