For this purpose, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between Khuzestan Water and Power Authority (KWPA) and Chinese SEPCO for launching water supply project in northeast part of Khuzestan province which is considered as one of the largest water projects in the country.
The water is supplied to the cities of this southern province including Izeh, Baghmalek, Meydavood, Ramhormoz and Seydoon for drinking purposes as well as development of agricultural and horticultural areas.
CEO of Khuzestan Water and Power Authority (KWPA), represented by employer of this giant project, signed the MoU with Chinese SEPCO Corporation and said, “under the contract, it is supposed that 11.1 cubic meter water/second of Karun 3 dam will be conveyed towards the cities of Izeh and Baghmalek, 8 and 3.1 cubic meters of which will be earmarked for agricultural and drinking purposes respectively.”
He put the credit predicted for the construction of this giant water supply project at €270 million, the amount of which will be financed by Chinese SEPCO Corporation.
With the studies made in this regard, the aforementioned project will be put into operation within 42 months, he maintained.
