TEHRAN, Jun. 20 (MNA) – Delegations from Iran and France held 5th round of political talks Wed. in Tehran, during which the two sides stressed the preservation of nuclear deal and conferred on international and regional developments.

The Iranian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the French side was headed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne.

During the talks on Wednesday, the two sides highlighted the need for preserving the Iran nuclear deal dubbed JCPOA, and stressed all other signatories’ commitment to its full implementation despite the US unilateral pullout.

They also called for expansion and consolidation of bilateral relations between Paris and Tehran.

The two sides then exchange views on various international and regional developments, including the current status of conflicts in the region, and called for expediting the political settlement of crises, such as the war in Yemen.

Combating Takfiri-terrorism was another issue discussed between the two sides.

The Iranian diplomat, Araghchi, voiced objection to the continued presence of MKO and their activities in France territory, calling for a stop to the terrorist groups’ measures in the European country.

The French diplomat, for his part, stressed France’ vigilance in monitoring and controlling all activities of groups with a history of terrorist activities.
