Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq Spokesperson Safeen Dizayee said Sunday that KRG attaches great importance to its relations with Iran and has formed a joint committee with the Islamic Republic for a closer monitoring of various groups that cross into Iran from the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
His remarks came in response to the recent crossing of some terrorist groups into Iran, which was covered extensively by regional media.
Following the recent activities of terror groups in some border areas, the Iranian Consulate General in Erbil handed over a protest note to KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations on June 13 to denounce the acts and stress the Iranian Armed Forces’ right to legitimate defense and confronting the terrorists.
Recently, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in separate operations dismantled three terrorist groups which sought to infiltrate into the country.
The Iraqi Kurdistan spokesman went on to add that KRG has called on terrorist groups not to launch attacks against Iran and Turkey from the Iraqi soil, saying that KRG will not allow any terror acts to be carried out against other countries from its own territories.
