TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani, in a message to his Turkmen counterpart Berdimuhamedow, extended congratulations on the country’s Day of Neutrality.

“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on Turkmenistan Neutrality Day,” reads Rouhani’s Message to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

“It is gratifying to learn that the initiative of the Turkmenistan led to approval of December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality by the UN General Assembly,” Rouhani underlined.

He later emphasized that Iran attached great significance to expansion of friendly and multi-lateral relations with Turkmenistan. The Iranian President voiced satisfaction that Turkmenistan was taking serious and practical measures to establish peace, security and development inside the region within the framework of impartiality.

The official underlined that continuation of the same policy was rooted in forward-looking vision of the Turkmen president.

Rouhani also wished well-being and success for his Turkmen counterpart as well as prosperity for the Turkmen nation.

Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan is the second most important state holiday in Turkmenistan. This date is celebrated in Turkmenistan annually on December 12.

December 12, 1995 was adopted by the UN General Assembly Resolution number 50/80, which expressed the hope that “the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan will contribute to peace and security in the region.”
