TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Masoumeh Ebtekar, held talks with Iceland's FM Tue. on the sidelines of the WPL Annual Global Summit 2017 which brings together more than 200 female political leaders from all across the world.

The WPL Annual Global Summit 2017 is currently being hosted, in cooperation with the Iceland’s Parliament and the Government of Iceland, in Reykjavík on 28-30 November.

This high-level conference is a unique gathering of at least 250 women political leaders from all over the world with the motto, “We Can Do It!”.

The summit provides a forum for exchange on best political practices and experiences, leading to impact on legislation and political agenda-setting.

During her stay in Reykjavík on Tuesday, Ebtekar held talks with Iceland’s Foreign Minister Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, and discussed the progress achieved in women affairs in Iran and the prominent role of women in development of civil society.

Þórðarson, for his part, highlighted Iceland’s policy toward the improvement of women’s roles in economy and trade development.

He also voiced interest in sending a high-ranking trade delegation to Tehran aimed at expanding economic relations between the two countries.

The two sides also called for global efforts in the fight against extremism and terrorism.

Ebtekar is set to deliver a speech at the WPL summit and hold meetings with a number of political leaders participating in the event.
