During a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Moscow on Friday, Shoygu stressed the importance of exchanging views with de Mistura to try and find additional steps and motives to continue towards establishing a dialogue between the Syrian government and the “opposition.”
The Minister said that the transition towards the political process and dialogue is necessary today, since round 98% of Syrian territories have been liberated from the terrorists, and it is time to explore the next moves to resolve the crisis in Syria.
For his part, de Mistura pointed out to the great efforts exerted by Russia to pave the way for the political process, adding that he is looking forward to discussing the prospects of the Syrian political process in Geneva on November 28, especially the issues related to the elections and the constitution.
