Vladimir Putin, Hassan Rouhani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the future of Syria after the defeat of ISIL.
The Russian, Iranian and Turkish leaders reaffirmed the importance of preserving sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria. The presidents have also agreed on promoting the Astana peace talks on Syria.
Presidents of Iran and Turkey supported Russia's initiative of a national dialogue in Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the press conference.
Iran, Turkey and Russia call on all countries to assist settlement in Syria, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.
"We confirmed readiness to intensify cooperation for the final destruction of Daesh, al-Nusra Front , other extremist groups," Putin said after talks with the leaders of Iran and Turkey.
Russia, Iran and Turkey will conduct work on a date and composition of a future Syrian National Dialog Congress in Sochi, he went on.
"I can state with satisfaction that the presidents of Iran and Turkey welcomed the idea of convening a pan-Syrian forum - a Syrian National Dialogue Congress. It has been agreed to arrange for this most important event at the proper level and to ensure participation in it of the wide strata of Syrian society. The foreign ministries, special services and defense ministries were instructed to work on a date and composition of the Congress to be held here in Sochi," Putin said.
"At today’s talks we did not leave out an issue of Syria’s economic and social restoration. Loads of work should be done. Actually, the Syrians should be helped to rebuild infrastructure, to revive the industry, agriculture and trade and to reopen vital facilities - hospitals, schools and kindergartens," Putin said.
Iranian President Rouhani described the meeting of today as open meeting and asserted that the main objective of the Wednesday trilateral session was to form a national congregation of all Syrian sides to let all races, ethnicities, religions and active parties of Syria, whether proponents of the current Syrian administration or the opposition groups, get together in near future in Sochi to discuss and exchange views on the future of Syria and pave the way for drafting the new Constitution.
Turkish Presiden Erdogan also hoped fruitful cooperation between Turkey, Russia, Iran leads to positive results.
