TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – The first International Conference on Followers of Ahl al-Bayt (family of Prophet Muhammad) vs. the Takfiri Issue has kicked off in Tehran with over 500 Shia and Sunni scholars in attendance.

The World Summit of followers of Ahlul Bayt (the family of the Islamic prophet Muhammad) vs. the Takfiri issue is currently underway in Tehran and will wrap up on Thursday.

More than 500 Sunni and Shia scholars from 94 countries together with 250 Iranian scholars are taking part in the conference.

According to Leader’s advisor on international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, the board of conference have received about 250 articles and 4 published books, which are prepared to be presented at the summit. 

The conference mainly aims to create unity among Muslims, as well as to introduce the school of Ahl al-Bayt and the methods to fight Takfirism, which is the dark ideology of ISIL terrorists and is mostly rooted in Wahhabism.

Other goals of the event include preventing the domination of imperialism and Zionist colonialism through shaping a strategic link between the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and other Muslims and monotheists in the world, as well as to create the necessary ground among the followers of Ahl al-Bayt for saving humanity from injustice, oppression, poverty and discrimination.
