TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Larijani told Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad that the victories against terrorism in Syria were the result of Syrians’ resistance.

“The ISIL terrorist burdened heavy costs upon Syria but the Syrians managed to accomplish great victories with resistance,” said Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament on Wednesday.

The Iranian top law-maker made the remarks during his meeting with Faisal Mekdad, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister, who is visiting Tehran and met with Leader’s Aide Velayati, and Deputy FM Jaberi Ansari before being received by Speaker Larijani.

“We also reminded our Kurd friends to be prudent not to have a new trouble in the region and many of their political figures agreed with us,” Mr. Larijani pointed to the Iraqi Kurdistan crisis of the past couple of weeks.

“About US behavior we should say that such issues projected by US are harmful for the Americans themselves and we saw how other countries reacted to Americans,” Mr. Larijani commented on US President Trump’s anti-Iran speech threatening to pull out of the nuclear agreement of July 14, 2015.

The Iranian legislator pointed the blame finger at Americans for obstructing the war on terror in Syria and creating delay in garnering victory over terrorists.

The Syrian diplomat for his part delivered the greetings of Syrian President Assad quoting him saying that the victories achieved in Syria are more indebted to the selfless efforts of Iranians, “we are grateful to Iranian nation for all the sacrifices they made.”

“If it was not for US supporting the terrorists and the ISIL, we would have gained victory much earlier, but it seems to be a source of pride for them to back terrorist against the people of Iraq and Syria,” reiterated the Syrian deputy foreign minister.

“Despite all these efforts, Americans have become more isolated and their close allies are now aligning with Iran,” he stated.
