TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Iranian foreign ministry spokesman has expressed his sympathy over the recent destructive typhoon in Japan, which has killed and injured dozens of people.

In a Wednesday statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi offered sympathy to the bereaved families of Typhoon Lan victims in Japan.

Typhoon Lan was the second largest tropical cyclone in terms of a gale diameter on record and the most intense of the Northwest Pacific Ocean in 2017, which struck Japan as a category 2 equivalent typhoon. October 20, Lan grew into a very large typhoon and rapidly intensified, due to favorable conditions, reaching peak intensity with a large eye late on the same day. The natural disaster has so far killed 23 people and injured 87 others in Japan.
