Ali Akbar Velayati, Head of the Strategic Research at Iran’s Expediency Council, made the remarks on the sidelines of a Sunday morning meeting with the member of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands, Raymond Knops.
The senior adviser to Iran’s Leader said the Dutch were willing to develop economic relations with Iran and would fully support implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He said the Netherlands was utterly against American policies, reiterating “given that the visiting parliamentarian delegation held bright views, they criticized America’s failure to stick to obligations and reaffirmed their commitment to the nuclear deal.”
“The Dutch delegation, in the course of talks, announced their eagerness to make investments in Iran and made inquiries on return on investment (ROI) rates,” noted the Iranian official.
“Officials of the Netherlands have underlined that their policies were different from those of the US and would never give credit to violation of agreements by the Americans,” stressed Velayati, adding “the Dutch remain committed to the deal inked with Iran and will spare no effort to make investments here.”
At another part of his remarks, the adviser to the Iranian Leader touched upon the upcoming visit of Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi to Tehran, saying “Iran and Iraq hold friendly ties and the Iranian nation, driven by guidelines of Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, has assisted Iraqis in preserving their territorial integrity and overcoming domestic and foreign enemies.”
“Communications between the two countries are necessary and pave the path for exchanging views,” highlighted the official emphasizing that Iran would always welcome Iraqi officials.
In response to another question on the recent attack on Iran consulate in Erbil, Ali Akbar Velayati maintained that “great majority of Kurds are against recent incidents and are after preserving national sovereignty and strength of Iraq.”
“Disintegration of Iraq will merely lead to weakness and enfeeblement of the neighboring country,” he concluded.
