Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran and Iranian Leader’s Aide, sent a message of condolences on Saturday to his Afghan counterpart, extending sympathies with the bereaved families of the Muslims killed at terrorist attacks on Kabul mosques.
“Takfirist terrorism which is unfortunately supported financially and intelligence-wise by some countries of the region is a serious threat to Islamic nations and countries,” regretted the Iranian official in addition to condemning the deadly attacks of Friday.
Mr. Shamkhani asserted that the sole solution to the problem is cooperation and undertaking a joint approach.
He called for concurrent fight against terrorism in two fronts of ideology and security saying “cultural fight against the ideological roots of ISIL thought should be concurrent with military and security measures.”
Mr. Shamkhani highlighted that the seminary figures and clerics of the Islamic world especially in Iran and Afghanistan can contribute greatly to this cause.
In addition to extending sympathies to the bereaved families and Afghan government, the Iranian official voiced the readiness of the Islamic Republic for providing medical support to the wounded.
Twin suicide bombers struck two mosques in Afghanistan during Friday prayers, in Kabul and in western Ghor province, killing at least 63 people.
