Sayyari, who is in Italy to attend a naval conference and to provide the European country with Iran’s experience in ensuring security in high-risk maritime zones, like the Gulf of Aden, lashed out at US President Trump on his unwise speech against Iran and using an inappropriate word in lieu of Persian Gulf.
“It indicates his lack of understanding and knowledge of history because the name of the Persian Gulf has been always in historical records and there are so many documents to prove that,” he noted.
It is better for the American nation to send their president to a history and geography class, so that he can talk like a president. His speech was completely impolite, he added.
Pointing to his trip to Italy, Sayyari said "we are invited by the Italian Navy as a special guest to take part in the 11th Venice Regional Seapower Symposium for the Navies of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Countries, in the coming days, and will present speeches on seapower and naval experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran in securing the Gulf of Aden and confronting the pirates.”
Sayyari underlined that Iran's experience is of special interest to other countries, and we will talk in bilateral meetings about the ability of the Islamic Republic to establish security.
The 4-day symposium, scheduled for October 17-19, will host naval commanders from 50 countries to discuss countering illegal activities, technical innovation, and enhancing cooperation in the maritime security sector.
