TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Larijani told his Syrian counterpart that the Syrian crisis is getting close to its finish line.

“The critical situation is near its end thanks to resistance,” said Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, on Monday, during the meeting with Hammouda Sabbagh, the newly-appointed Speaker of the People's Council of Syria.

The two lawmakers met in Russia, on the sidelines of the137th IPU Assembly in St. Petersburg

Referring to the beginning days of the crisis in Syria, Mr. Larijani asserted that “in those days nobody could believe that Syria would be able to resist against the pressures, but our understanding of Syria made us be firm in our belief in Syrian resistance.”

“Syria withstood and paid a heavy cost, but it has also garnered valuable experience of a five year crisis passed by, which promises the future of Syria would be full of hope,” reiterated the Iranian top legislator.

The Iranian official urged his Syrian counterpart to follow the establishment and stabilization of peace in Syria. Mr. Larijani told the Syrian lawmaker that normalizing diplomatic relations with the world should be the top priority of post-war Syria.

“The Syrian crisis is approaching its end but the regional crises should still be taken care of and continuous war on terrorism should be borne in mind,” reassured Mr. Larijani. He also condemned the role of Saudi Arabia and “the Zionist regime”, in the regional crises.
