TEHRAN, Oct. 06 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ghasemi said FM Zarif will travel to Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah on Friday in order to take part in funeral ceremony of former Iraqi president.

“Leading a high-ranking Iranian delegation, Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif will travel to the city of Sulaymaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan on Friday,” Bahram Ghasemi stated on Tuesday.

The official noted that the Iranian minister of foreign affairs, along with his accompanying delegation, is slated to attend the funeral ceremony of Iraq’s former president, Jalal Talabani, who “had a life-time endeavor preserving freedom, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.”

“He also spared no effort in bolstering friendship between the two nations of Iran and Iraq,” Ghasemi underlined.

Former Iraqi president and leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Jalal Talabani died on October 03 in Germany, at 83.
