TEHRAN, Sep. 09 (MNA) – The Iranian female squad won the bronze medal at the first international paddle strokes at the ICF Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championships – Venice 2017 in Italy.

The Iranian 10 seat squad of senior women got into the final of 200 meter race where they came third after Ukraine and Germany. They crossed the final line 3.58 seconds after the Ukrainians.

This is the first time ever a female paddling squad wins medal at a tournament of international competition.

The Iranian squad was made up by Ensiyeh Pourabdollahi, Marziyeh Keshavarz, Dorna Mahini, Dena Rezaiezadeh, Ghamzeh Razizadeh, Zahra Ahmadiasl, Diba Haghnejad, Seyyedeh Houriyeh Hosseini, Fatemeh Mafi, Sana Mollahassan Sis, Elnaz Ghasemi, Kimia Safaei, and Tina Asgarifar.

The Iranian paddlers competed with teams from 15 countries; China, the Philippines, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Moldova, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Swiss, Ukraine, Hungary, the United States and Sweden.
