TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African-Arabian Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Saturday morning.

Jaberi Ansari, while expressing his concern over the severe humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the support of UN's efforts to end the Yemeni war and crisis, presented the proposed framework of the Islamic Republic of Iran to solve the political crisis in Yemen and the principles that must be taken to resolve the issues.
Ould Cheikh Ahmed, for his part, presented a report on the latest humanitarian situation in Yemen and his recent efforts to reinvigorate the political solution to the Yemeni crisis, and called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to support their moves.
The two sides also exchanged views on new ideas for opening up the current political deadlock in talks for Yemen’s situation.

Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed arrived in Tehran today, to consult with senior officials of the Islamic Republic on the crisis in Yemen.

Meantime, Ould Cheikh Ahmed is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

He has also traveled to some Arab countries to discuss the Yemeni crisis.
