TEHRAN, Jul. 24 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy FM Hossein Jaberi-Ansari held a meeting with Head of the National Iraqi Alliance (NIA) Ammar Hakim on Monday in Baghdad.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, met with National Iraqi Alliance (NIA) Ammar Hakim in Baghdad during his trip to the Arab country aimed at taking part in Iran-Iraq Joint Political Committee meeting.

During the meeting attended by a number of officials from the NIA and the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, the two sides discussed the recent developments in Iraq and the Middle East.

On Sunday, the Iranian diplomat also held talks with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri, calling for an all-out campaign against terrorism and extremism.

During his meeting with Iraqi President Fuad Masum earlier that day, which was followed by a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari and the joint commission session, Jaberi Ansari invited Masum to President Rouhani’s second inauguration. 

Meanwhile, Iraqi Defense Minister Irfan al-Hayali is in Tehran for expansion of military-defense cooperation between the two countries.

Iran has reassured Iraq to continue its support in the fight against terrorism and assist the war-torn country in restoration of damaged infrastructures following years of battling ISIL terrorists.
