TEHRAN, Jul. 24 (MNA) – A joint cooperation agreement was inked on construction of subway cars at the presence of Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.

Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), Iranian Rail industries development Co (IRICO) and Alstom Alstom France were the three parties who inked the trilateral agreement in a bid to bring in technology and know-how of the industry as well as to create multi-billion French finance in Iran.

The MoU-signing ceremony was attended by representative of the French company, as the owner of 60% of the project for construction and manufacturing of metro and suburban carriages, Deputy Industry Minister and Managing Director of Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO) Mansour Moazemi as well as Managing Director of Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Co. Gholamreza Hassan Nejad. All parties voiced optimism towards implementation of provisions of the deal by the end of the Sixth National Development Plan.

Iran’s Moazemi, described Alstom as one of the most trusted companies in Europe and expressed hope that, by taking advantage of domestic capabilities and private sector of the country, all demands for wagons in urban and rural transport cycle will be met.

Gholamreza Hassan Nejad, CEO of the largest manufacturer of subway cars, said “we hope that mutual cooperation with Alstom France will realize production of 1,000 subway cars annually.”

“Manufacturing 1,000 wagons a year requires construction of 100,000 square meters of factory,” he continued.

Alstom is a French multinational company operating worldwide in rail transport markets, active in the fields of passenger transportation, signaling and locomotives, with products including the AGV, TGV, Eurostar, and Pendolino high-speed trains, in addition to suburban, regional and metro trains, and Citadis trams.
