TEHRAN, Jul. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s SNSC head Shamkhani said Sun. that partitioning trends can inflame enemies’ greed and escalate insecurity and instability in the future of Iraq.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Irfan al-Hayali on Sunday in Tehran.

During the meeting, Shamkhani maintained that close cooperation among regional countries affected by terrorism for a military, security and cultural confrontation with terrorism is an “indispensable necessity” and a deterrent to the re-establishment of terrorism and military intervention of foreign powers under the pretext of fighting terror.

He stressed that Iraq’s territorial unity and national integrity will ensure the stability, security and protection of the interests of all the tribes and peoples of the Arab country.

Shamkhani also voiced Iran’s support to the Iraqi armed forces in the fight against terrorism, as well as assistance in restoration and development of Iraqi cities.

The Iraqi minister, for his part, called for closer cooperation between the two countries given the two sides’ common goals and interests.

“The Iraqi Army will act on independence and reliance on the experiences of recent years to deal with any aggression and occupation, and will not allow any new plots and illegal measures aimed at partitioning Iraq,” he stressed.
